Count to ten. Guess what? Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos made $30,182 while you were counting. Bezos makes $3,182 every second. He makes as much as an average Amazon employee every nine seconds. Now, at a time when the COVID-19 crisis has led to 30 million people being thrown out of their jobs, Bezos is making a killing. Amazon sales have risen by 26% to an incredible $75 billion thanks to the fact that so many people are stuck in their homes, ordering from online suppliers like Amazon what they otherwise would have bought at the store. It shows the twisted logic of capitalism that a global crisis can make one person so rich, when the resources which that money represents are desperately needed by so many people.
