Here we are, in the middle of a global pandemic and what does the Trump administration do? Cut funding to the World Health Organization (WHO). What could be more insane in the middle of a pandemic! The United States is the biggest donor to the WHO, providing $400 million dollars or 15% of its budget.
This isn’t just irresponsible, it’s despicable. Trump says the WHO failed to act against the virus when it was in China and is complicit in the Chinese government’s failure to contain the virus. This is obscene, coming from the guy who has denied that coronavirus is a problem, promotes false cures, and failed to do anything to produce the severely needed medical machinery and supplies we need. The United States, with 300 million people, has had more time to prepare than China with one billion people. But the U.S. has had 675,000 cases while China has had only 82,000. Trump wants to shift the blame as he always does, using racism and xenophobia. No one should buy the lies this criminal is selling.
