Social Movements in France (Saturday, July 21, 11am, Oakland, CA)

Students demonstrate with striking SNCF (French National Railway Corporation) employees near the Lille Flandres railway station on April 3, 2018 in Lille, on the first day of a two days strike. Staff at state rail operator SNCF walked off the job from 7.00 pm (1700 GMT) on April 2, the first in a series of walkouts affecting everything from energy to garbage collection. The rolling rail strikes, set to last until June 28, are being seen as the biggest challenge yet to the President's sweeping plans to shake up France and make it more competitive. / AFP PHOTO / Philippe HUGUEN

For the past few months, there have been ongoing strikes of workers from rail and other industries, major demonstrations and university occupations protesting the attacks of President Macron’s government. Come to a presentation and discussion over Skype with activists from the Fraction L’Etincelle of the NPA (New Anti- Capitalist Party).
