All of us have been feeling the pinch of inflation, but especially so at the gas pumps. To fill up a tank is like putting a down payment on a house every week. Just wait until the summer when they jack up the prices again!
Meanwhile these gas companies have been making money off of us for decades, and this year Exxon Mobil posted its best profits in seven years. British Petroleum (BP), which owns Arco and other companies, has reported its biggest yearly profit for eight years. And because our entire transportation system is built around the car, we have no other choice but to open our wallets and pay what they demand.
Where has this money gone? It has flowed straight to the top, with 11 of the major oil companies giving their stockholders $36.5 billion in dividends over the past year alone! This is truly highway robbery!
