On April 18, a federal judge struck down the mask mandate on planes and trains, and although the Biden Administration is appealing the decision, it says that the mandate is no longer in effect while the ruling is being reviewed.
This judge, Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida by Donald Trump. The American Bar Association deemed her “unqualified” for the lifetime appointment. She ended the mandate for all because it would be impossible to end the mask mandate only for those who filed the lawsuit, and she therefore believes that the CDC had exceeded its authority by imposing such a rule.
So she has more authority than the CDC? An unqualified judge, appointed by a president who was elected by a minority of voters, making public health decisions without the slightest training in public health? It’s outrageous.
