Healthcare Workers Say: No Pride in Genocide!

This article is reprinted from the Speak Out Now healthcare newsletter at Kaiser and Highland Hospitals in Oakland, CA.

Over the Pride weekend, healthcare workers marched together Friday at Trans March to show solidarity with Palestinians, using the demonstration as an opportunity to bring attention to the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Gaza only has one functioning hospital left.

Then on Sunday, queer and trans healthcare workers marched in a 1000 person strong SF Pride counter-protest. Some of SF Pride’s sponsors aren’t supportive of Palestinians, and some, like Google and Amazon, even provide technology to the Israeli military. So the marchers chose not to celebrate with these corporate sponsors. Instead they took to the streets and demonstrated in the spirit of the first Pride, which started as a protest against police brutality.

“Pride” involves fighting for your rights, supporting the liberation of the oppressed, and it should mean solidarity with Palestine.
